Northpoint Eyecare Laser Treatments

We have three different kinds of lasers for the treatment of various conditions of your eyes. The treatments are undertaken in a comfortable, dedicated laser room. Your doctor will discuss the need for, the risks and the benefits of any laser surgery that is required. The laser surgery will incur costs, which have a portion rebated by Medicare.

Different lasers for different treatments

Argon Laser

This type of laser is used in the treatment of retinal conditions such as Diabetes and in tears of the retina that can occasionally occur with detachment of the vitreous gel in the back of the eye.

YAG Laser

Used to treat clouding of the capsular bag, or covering supporting the Intra-Ocular Lens, that occurs in approximately 10% of people after cataract surgery. This laser is also used in the treatment of Glaucoma.

SLT Laser

Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (or ‘SLT Laser’) is a variant of the YAG Laser, this laser can be used in the treatment of Glaucoma. In contrast to Argon Laser Trabeculoplasty, this treatment can be repeated and can be useful in reducing the need for glaucoma drops.
